An example of a Secondary Emotional Thermometer Scale
This resource follows a block of work around different emotions. Students explore the terminology that they prefer to use, what this then feels and looks like in their bodies (their physiology) and finally some ideas about what they can do at each level to manage that emotional response and self soothe. The thermometer can be differentiated down by only completing the first column, or the first and third columns.
The resource can be laminated and displayed at home, in their planner or as a mini key-ring prompt. Students will then require regular encouragement to implement the thermometer, when calm or heightened.
